Green Grant for Rutherford High School

July 21st, 2015 | Posted by Rutherford Green Team in Uncategorized

Sustainable Jersey for Schools awarded our own Rutherford High School a $2,000 PSEG Small Grant. The funds will go toward restoring¬†the school’s central courtyard and turning it into a Learning Center and Sustainable Garden.

“We are thrilled to receive this Sustainable Jersey grant,” said Frank Morano, Principal of Rutherford High School. “The grant will allow our school to provide outdoor classroom space, hydroponic and aquaponic gardening, and develop plant husbandry and sustainable agriculture concepts for our student body. This grant will foster a continued interest in the environment and vigilance towards the importance of sustainability and how it can be incorporated into daily life.”

Congrats and thanks go to Karen Travellin, teacher and Green Team co-chair!
